Many of you will be using firebug and console.log regularly to dump data from your javascript apps – mainly for quick and easy debugging. There are actually many more powerful logging functions built into console.log to help organise this data.
Logging object hyperlinks
You can pass any kind of object to console.log and it will be displayed as a hyperlink. Clicking these links will inspect the object in whatever tab is most appropriate. console.log and its related functions can do a lot more than just write text to the console.
String formatting
console.log can format strings in the great tradition of printf. For example, you can write console.log("%s is %d years old.", "Bob", 42).
Color coding
In addition to console.log, there are several other functions you can call to print messages with a colorful visual and semantic distinction. These include console.debug, console.info (blue), console.warn (yellow), and console.error (red). – give them a try!
Nested grouping
Sometimes a flat list of messages can be difficult to read, so Firebug gives you a solution for indenting in the console. Just call console.group("a title") to start a new indentation block, and then console.groupEnd() to close the block. You can create as many levels of indentation as you please.
Object inspection
How many times have you hand-written code to dump all of the properties of an object, or all of the elements in an HTML fragment? With Firebug, you’ll never write that code again.
Calling console.dir(object) will log an interactive listing of an object’s properties, like a miniature version of the DOM tab. Calling console.dirxml(element) on any HTML or XML element will print a lovely XML outline, like a miniature version of the HTML tab.
Hope these help!

Mark, our creative director and one of the founding partner’s here at We Love, has been invited to participate in this months .NET Magazine’s Design Off.

Each Month .Net invite some the badest, madest, bestest and just plain ugly(est) – (now, where does Mark fit in to that lot?) – to see if they can make the grade by designing to a fictitious brief set by .NET mag. This month its re-thinking and re-designing a theatre site…
Mark is no stranger to .Net Magazine, he picked up a .NET Site of the Month for his Creative Direction on Canon’s EOS 400D digital extravaganza while working for MediaCatalyst in Amsterdam.
Good job he’s still a very much a hands on / can do guy… keep your eyes wide open to see if Mark has still got the mojo. (Oh and Mark, the deadline… it may be in a month, but you have 1 week
… you are going on holiday!!! LoL. No sleep for the wicked)

After England’s display at the Oval yesterday, it wasn’t the best of starts – it might have had the guys at Marston’s worrying about their newly launched Ashes ad…

Another humorous strapline used in this campaign was ‘We’re English We Brew Beer. You’re Australian, You Serve It’
Anyway, after an awesome afternoon’s bowling, it is looking a lot better for us – enjoy the weekend, and fingers crossed we can send Freddie off in style with a deserved English victory!!

Well, what a nice start to the week. We were first nominated back in June… and now we have just been informed that We Love has been confirmed as one of the TOP 100 GLOBAL CREATIVE AGENCIES. I feel all glowy inside.

After someone (we know not who) kindly nominated us… we were contacted by The Creative Agency Awards and asked to submit a piece of custom work for the ‘FINAL JUDGEMENT’ to these unbiased, independent and indeed secret guys and girls… The agencies (not just digital, but offline as well) that made the grade were judged on their creative over the past year and their submission to the judge. Its good to be loved.
The book is to be published soon
Well done crew, keep up the good work.
