Office Christmas / New Year Closure

Hi All

Its Xmas time. The time we spend trying to fix our relationships and drink beeeeeeer after a year of working so hard. To do this we need time off so from 1pm on the 24th December to 9am 4th January the office will be closed so we can recoup and be ready for an energised 2010. Have a good one all.

Girls Toys Turned Cool…

Growing up as a wee nipper snapper, my sister (who is 18 months younger than myself) was always playing with girly toys… like my little pony, the sylvanians family, polly pocket and god knows what else!!! As hard as she tried to rope me in to her girlish game, I refused profusely and continued to run over her barbie dolls with my remote controlled cars and try and cut off their limbs with my plastic toolkit…

So, when I stumbled across these little beauties on the internet I had to laugh!!! I had never really asked myself what would happen if girls toys turned ‘manly’… but I recon I’ve found the answer below! So check out an alien, a wookie, the joker, megatron, Mr T and Darth Vadar all as my little ponies! As scary as these are, there’s definitely something quite cool (but wrong) about these characters… but you can decide for yourself!

SAVE SAAB

It’s RANT Time!!!! Well It has been a while since my last…

My Dad drove SAAB’s, I drive a SAAB and god damn-it my Son will drive one too. I am that sure that SAAB can be saved. Help prove me right.

I am not sure why I picked up this strange allegience to a car brand. My Dad and me are very very different – be it outlook on life, automotive priorities, even risk assessment. And SAABs: they are not the prettiest. They are not the safest (any more). Or the fastest, most balanced or roomiest… but there is definately something about them that sets them apart. I love big Citroens for the same reason. They just make their own rules and they sort of make you feel good inside. And for that reason I love them (and Citroens and also many other quirky car companies come to think of it) and I guess that is why the creative industries (And for some strange reason, Dentists) bought into the brand. SAAB has always been design brand. A bit quirky , a little bit out there. I ask you all a favour if you care about great brands with value and true heritage (and for the people who work for them)

Its time for the design industry and its associated colleagues to SAVE SAAB.

Move Your Mind… re-post this, re-tweet it… who cares but put the word out there.

Many thanks, have a great XMAS and help give the SAAB factory one too.

Staff Xmas Party…. A Day in Monte Carlo!

Well it’s that time of the year again. Time for the Xmas party – to celebrate another successful year at We Love… great work, new clients and new staff.

Each year a different member of staff has to organise an extravaganza. This year it was my turn. The pressure was on the Hoskinator (I really hate that name)… We can do what ever we want as long as it comes under budget (Mark’s Law) And this year after the serious stress of planning, organising and maths we all met up at the office at 5.15am and headed off to Monte Carlo for the day in search of some Winter Sun and to mingle with the seriously wealthy.

A day full of ice skating, ferris wheels, Christmas markets, Casino, £15 beers, good food, big boats and fast cars… (BUT NO HELICOPTER TRANSFER ‘COS I SCREWED UP) and lots of women draped lazily across the bow of the boats… (OK the last bit was a lie).

What a day!!! Considering the early start and late return… So whoever gets the job of organising the Xmas next year… Beat that!!

Spread the love… make James eat pie.

So it’s that time of the year again! We thought rather than just create another pointless Christmas campaign, we would give something back to those who need it most… while trying our damnedest to make James ill.

What’s this all about?
Its simple. Get James to eat 500 mince pies in just 12 days and we will donate £500 to the Make a Wish Foundation.

Why James you ask?
Well, everyone else in the office loves mince pies, so we thought it would be best to put somebody who really HATES mince pies in the hot seat!

Support the cause, feed James a pie, and make a donation via the site, and together we can make James dread Christmas forever more.

How do you get involved?
To feed James pie, simply visit the site and sign up to the cause… I promise it will take just a few minutes of your time… and you get to see the video of him eating YOUR pie.

Lets be honest… our donation is a given… but if you want to be more involved then we have also supplied a link to our page on JustGiving.com where you can happily give what pennies you can afford to spare.

Snow Day

So, we woke this morning to a pretty hefty covering of snow! Now, this might not be overly exciting for most of you, but rememeber I’m Australian, and to be honest… this kind of thing just doesn’t happen back home!

As my bus was cancelled I had to walk to work, so I thought I would take the opportunity to grab a few photos along the way.

The Drifter

I know Mark is going to give me a hard time for this post as he thinks I’m just a simple Australian surfer, haha, but I think it is worth watching, even if you don’t surf, as the cinematography and the message behind the movie is really top quality…

Learn English, the easy way

We’re proud to announce the launch the next phase of English from England’s Learning Zone. A new marketing strategy meant that English from England needed to re-design their language based learning product, with a focus on usability, interaction and progressive learning.

We took the exisiting product and re-worked the logic behind the games, concentrating on the relationship between the user and the learning process. The outcome is a friendly and inviting environment where young children can view video’s, practice and play the verbose and engaging games themselves (all 54 of them!).

Product sales have already increased after the new product launched at this years London Language Show 2009. The enhanced logic and structure behind the games has meant that young children are able to respond and react to the product in a much more engaging and productive way.

With such a great pre-Christmas start we’re looking forward to the New Year and the next stage of English from England’s global strategy.
