As ever, it’s always good to receive recognition for the effort of so many (client and agency side). So it thrills me to say that the site We Love designed and developed for Sony Ericsson’s Mobile World Congress last month has been received so well by our peers within the industry. Peaking at number 4 in the Design Charts, Site of the Day on Design Licks, Being reviewed in Creative Review as well as being listed in many other ‘hot pick’ sites…
Well Friday was interesting… We all went to Chessington World of Adventures as a half year treat (a bit late I know… well we have been extremely busy) and a thank you to our staff for their continued good work and efforts. Unfortunately Gav couldn’t make at as he had some deliveries to do… now that is commitment.
Fun was had by all – Company allocated: amount of fun based on time of service – especially the kids. Parents had their hands full trying to teach them the fundamentals of queuing, but still… a lesson learned by us more than them. Some even managed to have some adult rides where height was not a restriction.
Well here are a few choice piccies (the camera battery ran out… so a bit limited). Check out James eldest viewing my sons builders butt… hmmm. Perv.
James definitely proved that White Men Can’t Jump when we were busy winning badly made stuffed toys to keep the kids quiet. Mark proved that he can throw like a girl and still land a hoop or two.
Dan, Mel and James hope you enjoyed yourself. Well Dan did in the adventure park… more than the kids… worryingly…
Gav we missed you. You may have your company allocated fun at another pre-agreed date
We Love would like to say hi to our latest intergalactic, feel the force, I didn’t know it was my sister HERO.
Gareth joins our design team this fine summers day. We could be bothered to put a real pic up as he actually does look like the young Skywalker. Hence the Star Wars reference and the plastic doll. Talks wierd as well – either he is from a different galaxy or… sittingbourne… one of the two…
Have you noticed that, when showing cross-sells and upsells, many eCommerce sites hijack you off the page you’re looking at to view the suggested item, often with no way back to the other page without hitting “back?” Surely this is not the most usable way to suggest products and improve merchandising conversion rate. The same bad experience is applied when you wish to view your cart… why is this?
Surely cross-sell usability is a factor in their effectiveness. But how can you show customers information about cross-sells without forcing them to abandon the page they’re viewing? How do you create a fluid experience that is based on years of ingrained ‘real world’ habits. Not just reinvented and forever changing behaviors of a fledgling medium.
Answers on a postcard? No! Just wait for the launch of Sugagloss. Our soon to be launched flash based eCommerce / Magento driven site that is 100% SEO friendly. By reviewing best practice and rethinking how shoppers behave (and applying the real world physychology employed by successful retailers) we have advanced the design and user experience of the online shopping experience for our client, creating on page (and relevant) cross / up selling and purchase process that doesn’t break the rich user experience. We have taken one step in removing the barriers…
Well I still haven’t got my Eames Lounge Chair yet… . It will come… but I did happen across this rather interesting talk on TED by Eames Demetrios. A little disjointed but a rather beautiful insight into the Eames design process.
The book to be published this year will be on general sale through all good book shops. This is not a plug, but a quantitative comment. The book being for sale allows the Creative Agency Awards to select agencies on creative merit rather than have agencies but their way in. A rather refreshing quality in a world of agency owned award ceromonies…
Welcome on board Mr Josh Michnik. The latest in a line of winners who have chosen We Love to design and build a digital folio for his company Charles Lee Loves You!
Josh is a master of Film / Video, plying his trade for the likes of Ferrari, Redbull, Nokia, VH1, Diesel among others… So he is pretty good. Having previously worked with him, when a Creative Director at AKQA, I knew of his talent. We Love actually employed him to do a little digital work for us on our recently launched DigitalGurus site, prior to us Flashing the hell out of it.
Originally from Canada, then London, He’s now on his way to LA, where he will be busy making his mark stateside. He called me and asked if I could help him with a major site revamp. His major concern was his online presence didn’t match the quality of his work. We took the challenge. We now have our first client in the US of A.
Congrats to us… and to Josh for he obviously has very good taste… I mean he is heading to LA :
This week the We Love team went spreading the love to the movers and shakers of the Kent business community. Held at the Kent County Showground, 2020 Vision is Kent’s largest business exhibition and conference.
With an estimated 350 companies and over 3,500 attendees, the black themed ‘We love…No bullshit. No ego. Pure creativity’ stand really helped us stand out (as if we need any more help with that, especially with Gav’s new haircut!) and generated a lot of interest in both our creativity and 6 kilo’s of Haribo bears..!
Many thanks to all those that stopped by to say hi
With a greater number of people holidaying in Britain since the beginning of the ‘credit crunch’… now known as ‘a recession’… there is ample opportunity to capitalise on this change of consumer behaviour.
Keat Farm (our latest client, specialising in mobile, caravan and touring holiday destinations in Kent) set us a series of tasks… the initial being local press ads and targeted flyer / poster campaign, to be cost effective, to share the same creative, create lead generation, to add a little spice to their communications – differentiating them from local and national competitors.
Our response was to run a series of adverts selling not the product but the experience. A get away from it all. To ditch the stereotypical comms of their competitors and open up a new avenue of communication language to them. A two part ad that run on consecutive pages… escaping from it all.
A new creative agency, with new ideas. We are not London based, We are not full of ego.
What we are… well that is changing on a daily basis, but we have a vision and one that we are going to drive towards and make a reality. We knew that being creative directors for other companies was wearing thin… and that we know we can do better. Be more productive. Offer a better service at better rates. Improve expectations for ourselves and for our clients… and to really enjoy this industry of ours and make it enjoyable for others.
So with a new attitude, with big ideas. We move forward… we plan rapid expansion, but in a managed way. We want a great working environment for our staff. We want excellent clients that we can help build a long term vision. We want a company flat in Amsterdam. We care about quality and adding a little magic to everything we do… We want to be going home feeling proud of what the day has brought. And yes. It is achievable. And yes we will do it. Come join the party… there is a lot of love to share…
We love are in talks with quite a few interesting prospects and will be servicing UK (regional and national), European and US based clients (yeah we will get a website launched at some point so you can see more).
